I took a boat charter to Lana’i with Dive Maui in Lahaina for a 2 tank dive aboard their rigid hull inflatable dive boat. It’s always a fun ride in these boats and they get us across the channel in good time.
I do want to say that I was very impressed with the staff and crew of Dive Maui, especially my dive master Abby (sp?). I could tell she absolutely loved her job and she did it incredibly well. While the captain was doing the boat briefing at the dock, I spied her on the bow dancing to music that only she could hear, and no, she was not wearing any earphones/pods/etc.
Our first stop that day was a site called Fish Rock. I have not dove here in well over a decade. I recall a lot more fish, hence the name, but it was still a great dive. Got a brief glimpse of a dolphin (but no photo) at the beginning of the dive, but could hear them clearly.
The second site was First Cathedrals. I have dove this site many times, even mapped it for my cave diving class back in 1996. I have always loved this dive for its vistas, and also its marine life.
