Hawaii to Alaska Cruise

So my wife, Rosa, finally got me to go on a cruise. I had always wanted to do the Alaska Inside Passage cruise including Glacier Bay, so my wife, who likes the long sea crossings, convinced me to do this cruise where we spend 4 days around Hawaii, then 5 days crossing to Alaska, then 5 more days cruising the inside passage.

Well, cruising is not for me. I am glad I did it, and the time in Alaska was great, both the views from the ship and the time on the ground on the various excursions. Plus getting 3 weeks off work never hurt anyone. We had fantastic weather the whole time in Alaska, which apparently is very rare in the early spring, or anytime for that matter.

And here is a time lapse video taken from the rail of our balcony, recording the entire journey, but edited down (goodbye long nights of darkness) and sped up sections even more, to fit the whole journey into a 6 minute video. I call this the Railcam (™ :-)).

I attached a GoPro to the rail of the balcony of our cabin and set it for time lapse. I edited out the long nights, sped up even more some footage, and ultimately got the 16 day cruise down to just under 6 minutes.
