I saw that the Maui Diamond II was going to these 2 unusual sites (as in they don’t schedule trips to them very often and I have never dove them), so I skipped work and booked a dive boat trip.
As for the sites, Triple Anchors consists of, as the name suggests, 3 very large, coral laden anchors, with an unusually large mooring block in the middle; While Helldiver is a World War II airplane that was discovered a few years ago. Both dives are in about 60 feet of water. Beyond the things noted in the name of the sites, there isn’t much else but sand and sea grass around the anchors and the plane. But we found some cool stuff there too. Lion’s Paw Sea Cucumbers were all out and one of them was feeding on the sea grass, looking an awful lot like some alien monsters we have all seen in the movies or our dreams.
As with my last dive on the 8th, I took the GoPro Hero 11 and the Insta360 X3 camera for 360 video. I have yet to export and edit the 360 video from today, or even from 2 days ago on the 9th where I dove Ulua with only the 360 video camera. When I get these videos edited, I will post them. [Update: Posted] My 360 video from Makena on April 8th is up. Check it out in April 8th’s Makena Landing post. I think it’s pretty cool as you can look around and spot things, like a shark and 3 turtles, and you go in 3 caves! 🙂 The Ulua 360 video will have footage of a yellowmargin moray eel biting the camera. Stay tuned!
For now, here are some pics from today’s dive:
And now the 360 video!
For these pictures, I used the GoPro Hero 11 with the SeaDragon 5000+ light, handheld, and for the close up shots I used the Flip Macromate lens. For the 360 video I use the Insta360 X3 camera in their housing, edited with Final Cut Pro.
